The Fine Print
Here are important things to know before you apply.
- The Basic Mountaineering Course is a big commitment! It requires a significant investment of time, energy and money. See the 2025 Course Schedule for dates and locations for next year. Please do not apply for the course unless you can attend ALL field trips, lectures and evaluations.
- The course includes a mandatory rock climbing field trip in Canada, so students must be able to legally travel to Canada.
How to Apply

Learn More

The Bellingham Mountaineers are committed to building and fostering a representative climbing community that reflects the spaces in which we live and recreate. We recognize that outdoor recreation has historically excluded communities of color, women and LGBTQ people. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other underrepresented communities.
